Wind Energy grows with 15% compared to Q1/2 2010

After a weak year in 2010 Wind Energy finds a renewed momentum in 2011. In a half-year report of the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) worldwide wind capacity reached 215 GW by mid-2011. From those 215 GW, 18.4 GW were installed in the first 6 months of 2011. This increase represents 15 percent more than in the first half of 2010, when only 16,000 MW were added, WWEA says.

According to the report, global wind capacity grew by 9.3 percent within six months and by 22.9 percent on an annual basis (mid-2011 compared with mid-2010). The annual growth rate in 2010 was 23.6 percent.
