UK sees offshore wind capacity grow by 80% in one year

In the period from July 2012 to June 2013, UK offshore wind capacity increased from 1,858 MW to 3,321 MW. The major growth is mainly due to four huge wind farms becoming operational (Greater Gabbard, Gunfleet Sands III, Sheringham Shoal, and London Array). The London Array is currently the biggest offshore wind farm in the world. The 80% increase in offshore wind capacity doesn’t come as a surprise. The UK is a particularly favorable location for offshore wind farms. The shallow waters, calk bed for easy anchoring and high reliable winds make investment in UK offshore wind an interesting green investment.
